November brings many changes.  November 1st brings a time change from daylight savings to eastern standard time.  The weather begins to change from crisp autumn days to colder air with the possibility of a first snow.  Our leisure time takes place in front of the fireplace instead of outside on the deck.  On November 26th we celebrate Thanksgiving.  As we gather with family and friends to enjoy a bountiful meal and give thanks for all our blessings, perhaps we can carry that "attitude of gratitude" with us through the holidays and into the new year.  We at J. Gem of the Month - Topaz
The Egyptians considered Topaz a very powerful amulet.  They said it was colored from the radiance of the sun god, Ra.  The ancient Greeks believed Topaz had the power to increase a person's strength and protect the faithful against harm.  According to legend in the Middle Ages, Topaz could dispel enchantments, improve eyesight and cure insomnia!  In addition to being the November birthstone, it is used to mark the 4th, 19th, and 23rd wedding anniversaries.
